Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport

The management of the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport says an effort is underway to ensure that the airport passes its recertification test when officials of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, visit the airport.

The Airport Manager, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, NAIA, Mahmud Sani made this known at an “airport emergency mock Exercise difficult terrain” for part of the process needed for the Recertification of the airport.

Sani said the exercise will also help to mobilize human resources during accidents and further support the effort of the fire and rescue department manning the airport 24 hours.

The Abuja Airport Manager noted that the exercise has also helped to advance the usage of telecommunication gadgets and has equally helped in demonstrating how stakeholders are expected to respond in a real accident.

Also speaking, Deputy General Manager, Aerodrome Rescues and Fire Fighter Department in NAIA, Rindap Nantim, said that the exercise had also given the opportunity to the expert men in the department to display their skills.

Nantim explained that the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN fire service unit is arranged in such a way that, any fire Fighter that reports to duty can carry out a check on its equipment.

He noted that the issue of lack of water does not apply to the airdrome as water is available and 10,000 water-liters capacity vehicles are designed to operate within the given period of time in the airport.
