The Government of Lagos State has initiated a public health campaign against Mpox to prevent the importation of the virulent clade 1B spreading fast in Central Africa.
Speaking at a media briefing, State Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi said there is no active case of the disease in Lagos.
He however urged residents to be on the guard given the high risk of importation of the virulent variant through the airport.
Mpox is a viral infection that originated from the Animal Kingdom and it spreads from an effected person to another through close contact and sexual interaction.
