Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike has received pleas to intervene in legalising the establishment of the FCT College of Nursing Sciences to facilitate institutional accreditation.
The bill establishing the institution has been awaiting due process of the law for over 40 years.
The calls were made by the FCT College of Nursing Sciences overseeing provost, Deborah Yusuf and the FCT chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, Jama Medan during their presentations at a conference with the theme “Role of Artificial Intelligence and Telehealth in Shaping the Future of Nursing: Bridging the Gap Between Classroom Theory and Real-World Practice.”

While commending the minister for his achievements, the duo called for a positive approach to the development of the health sector in the capital city through improved welfare and the provision of modern training facilities for its personnel.
Other speakers who supported the call appealing to the FCT Minister to swiftly intervene to boost nursing education, agreed that the health sector equally needs to receive a facelift in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
