The Nigerian movie industry has lost one of its members, an actor and model; Alex Ekubo-Okwaraeke; popularly called Alex Ekubo.
Ekubo, an indigene of Arochukwu in Abia State, South-East Nigeria was born on April 10th 1986 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, South-South Nigeria. He was said to have died on Tuesday in Lagos; following a battle with terminal illness.
Since the late 2024, the six-footer actor has been absent from public engagements, film set and social media; as a result of his ill health.
The tall handsome entertainer, Alex Ekubo who turned 40 years in April; began his acting career in 2003 and rose to prominence in the Nollywood blockbuster, Weekend Getaway.
He was best known for his romantic roles in comedies and dramas which endeared him to movie lovers.
He has starred in the movies: Lagos Cougars, A Man for the Weekend, The Escort among other films.
In 2010, the late actor and model was the first runner-up at the “Mr Nigeria” contest and in the year 2020, he was named one of the “Most Influential People of African Descent” by the United Nations, for his contributions to entertainment and social development across the continent of Africa.
