Defending champions of the Nigerian Professional Football League, NPFL, Akwa United Football Club of Uyo has unveiled Ayodeji Ayeni as the new coach of the team.
At the unveiling to the media In Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Capital, Chairman of the club, Paul Bassey pointed out that 406 applications were received from local and foreign coaches.

Ayodeji Ayeni is joining Akwa United from Sunshine Stars of Akure at a difficult time for the club after recording poor results in the league.
According to Chairman of the club, Paul BASSEY the new coach has the pedigree to rejuvenate the team’s campaign.
Ayodeji Ayeni says he left Sunshine Stars to Akwa United because for a big brand and club, that deserves to be at the top.
Akwa United are currently sixth on the league table, 15 points on the table, and will face Rivers United next weekend on resumption from the mid season break.
