Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Round 23 witnessed several crucial matches with exciting results as teams continue to battle for top positions.

Ikorodu City secured a 2-1 win over Kwara on Sunday in the late kickoff. The result helped them climb to 7th place in the table with 34 points, just behind 6th-placed El Kanemi, who had a 1-0 victory over Nasarawa earlier in the week.

Abia Warriors impressed with a solid 3-0 win against Sunshine Stars. The victory helped them maintain their position in 4th place, with 36 points, keeping their hopes alive for a top-three finish.

Akwa United hosted Enyimba, and after a hard-fought 90 minutes, the home side claimed a 2-1 victory, which boosted their points tally to 23 as they battle for survival, sitting 18th in the standings.

Meanwhile, Bayelsa United and Rangers International played out a goalless draw, with both teams failing to find the back of the net. Bayelsa remains in 12th place with 29 points, while Rangers are in 5th, with 35 points.

Rivers United narrowly defeated Lobi Stars 1-0 with the match-winner arriving in the final minute as Finidi George’s men continue their push for the top spot. They are currently in 3rd place with 38 points.

Niger Tornadoes and Plateau United shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw, with both teams sitting mid-table, tied at 31 points each. Tornadoes were disappointed to have conceded a late equalizer to share the spoils in front of their fans.

Other notable results include Shooting Stars FC’s 1-0 victory over Bendel and Remo Stars’ 2-1 win over Kano Pillars. These wins helped Remo Stars maintain their place at the top of the table, while Shooting FC remained in 2nd.

The NPFL continues to be fiercely competitive, with teams like Remo Stars, Rivers United, and Abia Warriors eyeing a spot at the top. Week 24 promises more thrilling action as the title race and relegation battle intensify.
