The National Security Adviser Babagana Monguno has asked all heads of security agencies in the country to immediately begin profiling of politicians who exhibit tendencies threatening electoral process in Nigeria.
Speaking at the second quarterly meeting of the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC with intra-agency committee on election security, ICCES in Abuja, the NSA who was represented by Sanusi Galadima Explained that the Buhari-led administration is disturbed by the rising insecurity and the intense power play by unpatriotic politicians ahead of the forthcoming elections in Osun and Ekiti states.
Earlier, INEC chairman, Mahmood Yakubu asked security agencies to make use of the remaining nine months to the general elections to improve on their approaches to drastically reduce the spate of insecurity in the country.
The deepening security situations compelled the INEC chairman To suspend the ongoing voters registration exercise to avoid further loss of lives and property as The commission is expected to keep consulting the ICCES until the two bodies come up with lasting solutions to put the situation under control.
