The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has conducted a psychological assessment and evaluation test for its officers and men of the Katsina State Command.
It is in a bid to ensure a robust civil relationship with the members of the public and curb the issue of accidental discharge.
The exercise is being carried out as part of ongoing reforms, being implemented by the Commandant-General of the Corps, Dr. Ahmed Audi, to re-jig, revamp, resuscitate, restructure and reposition the corps to its lost glory.
The exercise is being conducted under the strict supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Corps II, Mohammed Ibrahim, who was sent from the Forensic and Behavioural Unit of the Corps’ National Headquarters, Abuja.
Addressing the personnel before the exercise, Ibrahim said the psychological assessment test, is to ensure that all its personnel is psychologically competent and sound to carry out their constitutional responsibilities, which is the vision of the Commandant-General of Corps, Ahmed Audi.

He added that the psychological assessment is aimed at ensuring that, all critical national assets and infrastructures are secured from destruction or sabotage by criminals, from within or outside the nation.
Ibrahim also said that the assessment is equally aimed at ensuring that security operatives do not pose a danger to themselves, or the general public, especially on the crucial issue of accidental discharge, leading to the loss of lives of Nigerians.
While declaring the exercise open, the Katsina State Commandant of the Corps, Mohammed Bello, enjoined the officers and men, to cooperate with the forensic team, and ensure orderliness during the exercise.
Represented by the Head Of Administration of the command, Deputy Commandant of Corp Kizito Emaikwu said that, the exercise is aimed at improving their capability and effectiveness as security operatives, for robust and efficient service delivery to the Nigerian public.
At the end of the psychological assessment and evaluation, Ibrahim said, any officer found wanting will be adequately counselled and rehabilitated, and the corp well as put together a comprehensive database of the personnel who are sound and fit.
