The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), in Zamfara State has intercepted two trucks with cows suspected to be rustled from Tsafe Local Government Area of the State on the way to Damba Area, a suburb of Gusau metropolis.
Briefing newsmen at the State Command Headquarters in Gusau, the State Capital, on behalf of the State’s Commandant of the Corps, Sani Mustapha the Command’s Public Relations Officer said in an effort to purge the state of all forms of criminalities, the Corps had intercepted two truck loads of cows numbering Twenty-four and one sheep on their way from Tsafe local government Area to Gusau metropolis.
He explained that the suspects who wanted to smuggle the cows to Gusau at night, had decided to offload the cows at Damba Area, a suburb of Gusau at about 7 pm on 31st December 2023.
The NSCDC Operatives acted on intelligence, which led to confronting the suspects, and on sighting the officers they took to their heels.
The cows were conveyed in two canter trucks with plate numbers TSF 329 SA Zamfara and AG 160 BW Abuja respectively.
The NSCDC has handed over the twenty-four cows and one sheep to the Zamfara State Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs.
The NSCDC under the leadership of Sani Mustapha, however, warned all criminal elements to desist from anything that contravenes the administrative policies of the State Executive Governor Lawal Dauda in the fight against insecurity in the State.
It would be recalled that the State Government had closed down cattle markets in some Local Government Areas including Tsafe Local Government Area, where those twenty-four cows and one sheep were suspected to have been rustled from.
