The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, says it has obtained a court order to seal facilities belonging to Inner Galaxy Steel Company over alleged involvement in vandalism and recycling of railway infrastructure and other critical national assets.
The Corps disclosed this during a press briefing in Kaduna.
The enforcement operation followed the arrest of suspects and recovery of avandalised railway materials allegedly linked to the company’s facility in Birnin Yero, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
National Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC, Babawale Afolabi, said the Corps secured a valid court order authorising the sealing of the premises and transfer of recovered railway materials to the Nigerian Railway Corporation as exhibits for prosecution.
He noted that the facility would remain sealed pending the conclusion of investigations.
According to the Corps, suspects are being investigated for alleged offences including conspiracy, destruction of railway infrastructure, theft, concealment of stolen property and alleged financing of terrorism.
The NSCDC also said some foreign nationals linked to the matter had been invited for questioning.
