The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, says it is currently working on what it calls the Journalism Enhancement Bill to boost the welfare of practicing journalists in the country.
National President of the union, Chris Isiguzo, made this known during a meeting with journalists in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital during his working visit to the state.
He noted that the bill would be presented to the National Assembly as soon as the final draft is ready.
Isiguzo noted that his visit to the state was to feel the pulse of the journalists and to collate their views into the proposed Journalism Enhancement Bill so that when passed into law, it would address their challenges.

He hinted that there is need for the leadership of the union to have regular interaction with the members across the country in order to know their challenges on the field and find lasting solution to the challenges
Isiguzo added that plans are in top gear to flush out quacks from the profession saying the union has commenced a data capturing process to ensure that only qualified journalists are registered.
