The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE has rejected plans by the Bauchi State Government to engage Consultants for the payment of salaries of its members.
The Union leadership stated this at the end of its emergency State Executive Council meeting held at its secretaria under the chairmanship of the State President, Muhammad Yunusa.
This appears to be another trouble for the Bauchi State Government after the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC issued a one-week strike notice with fresh six demands from the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed.
Though NULGE says it appreciates the Governor for allowing the Local Governments to pay their workers salaries, and implement full scheme of service, with promotion of staff to various grades levels, the plan to hire consultants is unacceptable.
The Union appealed to the State Government to always contact the Union on matters relating to the administration of Local Government affairs before implementation.
