He commended the two leading candidates, both Obaseki who ran on the PDP platform, and Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the APC, for adhering to the advice given at the peace meeting held at his Palace on September 2, which was widely acclaimed to have doused tension in the build up to the election.

The Royal father also lauded the National Peace Committee, headed by former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd) for the peace accord signed by the candidates of the fourteen political parties and candidates.

He acknowledged the role the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, headed by Professor Mahmood Yakubu and Security Agencies played to ensure a peaceful conduct of the election.
