The Lagos State Deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, has emerged as the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the party’s Primaries elections across all the wards in the state.
Hamzat polled 657,917 votes while Lanre Jim Kamal had one vote out of the total votes of 657,947 in the party’s Governorship Primaries elections.
Earlier, Chairman, All Progressives Congress in the State, Cornelius Ojelabi thanked members of the Party Primaries elections committee for the success story of the seamless process saying the party’s Presidential Primaries Elections would take place on Saturday 23rd of May 2026 for the emergence of the Candidate representing the party in the general elections next year.

The Chairman Lagos State Assembly and Governorship Party Primaries, retired General Jonathan Temlong who presented the results to representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Committee and Aspirant’s agents, thanked members of the party for their support.
In his acceptance speech, Hamzat, commended President Bola Tinubu for improving on the national democratic credentials and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for what he has done for the state and their party, seeking Lagosians blessings as he runs for the gubernatorial position.
Present at the event were Governor Sanwo-Olu, party leaders including members of the party’s Governance Advisory Council in Lagos,Lagos State Assembly, and Governorship Party Primaries Committee among other dignitaries.
