Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has signed into law a re-enacted bill for the protection of private properties to ensure that order is maintained in the acquisition of land and other related matters in the state.

The four bills which had scaled through the three readings on the floor of the Edo State House of Assembly were brought to Governor Godwin Obaseki for assent.

Governor Obaseki appreciates the state legislature for the commitment and due diligence in the discharge of their duties.
He says the bills which are crucial to the enhancement of the state will go a long way to improving the well-being of the people.

The Governor commended the House for the prompt passing of the bill which had to do with the harmonisation of retirement age of staff of Polytechnics and other Colleges of Education.
He notes that the executive arm of government had noticed the gaps in the private property protection law 2017 after operating for several years and the need to amend the laws in 2021 to deal with those who forcibly take other people’s properties.

Obaseki also emphasised the importance of having an agency to carry out the responsibility of maintenance as the state government moves to meet the Infrastructure needs of residents.
