The Obi Media Office has condemned an attack on the campaign convoy of NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi in Calabar, Cross River State, on Wednesday, November 4, 2026.
In a press statement, the media office described the incident as an act of political violence capable of threatening democracy, peaceful political participation and the fundamental rights of Nigerians.
The office expressed concern over what it described as the exploitation of vulnerable Nigerian youths by politicians who allegedly offer them money to disrupt political activities and perpetrate violence.
It lamented that those who finance and organise such attacks often remain shielded from the consequences, while young people are left to risk their freedom, future and lives.
The statement called on Nigerian youths to reject political violence and instead channel their energy towards education, productive engagement and nation-building.
It also urged security agencies to launch a comprehensive investigation into the incident, identify those directly involved, as well as their alleged sponsors, and ensure that all those responsible are brought to justice.
Reaffirming Peter Obi’s commitment to peaceful and issue-based political engagement, the media office called on political stakeholders across the country to embrace tolerance, civility and democratic principles.
