Troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised eight suspected armed terrorists and rescued three kidnapped victims during coordinated security operations in Katsina, Kaduna and Zamfara States.
The operations also led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, three locally fabricated guns, three motorcycles, cutlasses and assorted charms.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Captain Tamuno Sinivie.
According to the statement, the operations were conducted between Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25, 2026, as troops intensified efforts to combat terrorism, rescue kidnapped victims and restore security across the North-West.

In Katsina State, troops of Sector One responded to a distress call from farmers reporting terrorist activities around Machika Dam in Sabuwa Local Government Area.
The troops engaged the suspected terrorists in a gun battle, neutralising two, while others fled.
A 42-year-old kidnap victim was also rescued, while an AK-47 rifle loaded with ammunition and a motorcycle were recovered.
In a separate operation in Kaduna State, troops, working alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force, foiled a terrorist ambush around Ungwan Iya in Igabi Local Government Area, neutralising six suspected terrorists.
The troops had responded to reports of an attack on Ungwan Mallami village, where the assailants reportedly fled with two kidnapped victims.
However, while pursuing the suspects, the troops came under attack but responded with superior firepower, forcing the terrorists to flee and leaving behind three locally fabricated guns, two motorcycles, cutlasses and assorted charms.
In Zamfara State, troops of Sector Two rescued two kidnapped victims during a surveillance operation in Bagega, Anka Local Government Area.

The suspected terrorists reportedly abandoned the victims and fled upon sighting the advancing troops.
The Joint Task Force says troops have sustained patrols and search operations across the affected areas to track down fleeing suspects, rescue other kidnapped victims and prevent further attacks.
The Theatre Commander of Operation FANSAN YAMMA has commended the troops for their gallantry and resilience in responding to security threats across the region.
