The Women Wing of Muslim Ummah Ogun State chapter has called for greater unity among the various Islamic sects, stronger family values and the restoration of moral values to build a better society and a more respected nation.
The women, drawn from over fifty Islamic organisations and comprising professionals in ethics, education and mental health, made the call during a meeting in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
They stressed the need for parents to be more intentional in instilling sound moral values in their children as the foundation for a responsible future generation.
The theme of the gathering, “Mother, Unity and Community Service: Nurturing Strong Families, Building Vibrant Communities,” underscored the vital role Nigerian women play in strengthening family ties, promoting peaceful coexistence and restoring the moral values gradually being eroded in the society.
Participants present at the event maintained that mothers remain the first teachers of every child and therefore have a crucial responsibility in shaping character, fostering discipline and promoting community development.
The women also emphasised the need for greater unity among the various Islamic sects in Ogun State, urging members to set aside their differences and work together in the collective interest of Islam and the overall development of society.
They further encouraged women across the states to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and participate actively in the 2027 general election by voting for credible, competent and visionary leaders capable of delivering good governance.
