The Ogun State Police Command has commenced Operation “No Traffic Gridlock” in Ifo, Ifo local government area of the state, as part of efforts to ensure the free flow of traffic and maintain public order across the state.

The initiative follows a directive by the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, aimed at addressing persistent traffic congestion and enforcing environmental regulations along major routes.

During the operation, officers and men of the Ifo Division were deployed to strategic locations, particularly the Abekoko and Old Bank axis along the Abeokuta–Lagos Expressway, where frequent traffic obstruction had been recorded.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, the exercise targeted illegal display of goods by traders and the erection of makeshift structures obstructing vehicular movement.

Several obstructions, including planks, shanties and wares, were dismantled and evacuated, with over six trucks used in the clearance operation.

Fifteen individuals who defied lawful directives and violated environmental regulations were arrested and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
