The Eagle eye of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps,in Cross River State has uncovered a 150meter tunnel used by oil thieves to siphon petrol from the NNPC Major pipeline to a private tank farm in Calabar, the State Capital.
The Tank farm was identified by the security operatives as a dump site of the stolen crude oil within the Economic Processing Zone in Calabar.
Leading the Special Task force of the Command to the operation, was the state commandant of NSCDC, Samuel Fadeyi, who described the scene as a war against the Nation’s critical Assets by the cartel, assuring that investigation has commenced.
Fadeyi said a security man with the tank farm who is working with the cartel has been arrested and will face the law.
The arrested security man, Gabriel Ajom, who confessed to the crime, explained that he was tricked into the business by some unidentify military personnel and their agents.
The Leadership of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps had recently warned its officers and men to
avoid compromise in the discharge of their duties.
