The Ebonyi State Government and the the State Security Council have given a 72-hour ultimatum to Amasiri community to produce the severed heads of four victims brutally murdered in Okporojo, Oso-Edda, on January 29, 2026.

The State Governor, Francis Nwifuru at a Media briefing shortly after an expanded State Security Council meeting that was attended by members of the Ebonyi Elders Council, Founding Fathers, traditional rulers and other stakeholders from the affected communities, warned that failure to comply with the ultimatum would attract sanctions.

The Ebonyi State Commissioner of Police, Adaku Uche-Anya also told journalists that the Security Council meeting resolved that the existing sanctions on Amasiri community continues until conditions are met.

A 2:00pm to 10:00am curfew is in force in Amasiri community and joint security teams have been deployed to the area after suspected warlords attacked neighbouring Okporojo in Oso Edda, brutally killing five persons including an elderly woman, and taking away the severed heads of four of the victims, houses and properties burnt in the carnage.
