The Nigerian army has released from its custody the traditional ruler of ewurhobo Kingdom, in Ugheli South Local Government Area of Delta State, His Royal Highness, Clement Ikholo Oghenerukevwe.
Directir of Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, told a news conference in Abuja on Friday that Oghenerukevwe was being released based on his credibility
Authorities of the Nigerian army had, as part of the investigations to unravel the perpetrators of the crime murder of some military personnel in Okuoma, Delta State, invited notable suspects as well as the traditional ruler of Okuama community, in whose domain the crime was committed,
Oghenerukevwe had surrendered himself to the Nigerian army following request by the army authorities as part of ongoing investigations into the killing of seventeen soldiers of the Nigerian army in Okuama community in delta state.
The senator representing delta central, senator Ede Dafinone assured the army of his cooperation and promised to produce the traditional ruler whenever he is needed.
The Nigerian army says investigations are still ongoing hence there is no sufficient evidence with which to indict anyone at this stage.
