Nigeria’s house of representatives committee on defence has commenced its investigative hearing on the march fourteen, twenty twenty four, killing of seventeen military personnel at Okuama community in Ughelli South local government area of Delta state.
The committee led by its chairman, Babajimi Benson, during their first public hearing held at the government house annex in Warri, received twenty three memoranda from indigenes of Okuama community and other interested groups.
While assuring all in attendance that the committee will be fair and just during the public hearing, Babajimi added that more petitions and presentations will be welcomed until next Friday as they find the true cause of the unfortunate incident.
It would be recalled that the house of representatives at its March nineteen, twenty twenty four sitting, mandated the house committee on defence to investigate the Okuama killings and subsequent razing down of the community by the military.
