The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, has described the 25 personnel killed in the Nigerian Air Force aircraft crash in Igbokoda, Ondo State, as highly trained professionals who dedicated their lives to serving the nation.

Air Marshal Aneke spoke on Thursday during an inspection of the crash site in Ilaje Local Government Area, where he assured the bereaved families of the Nigerian Air Force’s support.

Air Marshal Aneke said he personally knew all the personnel aboard the ill-fated aircraft, describing their deaths as a painful loss to the Nigerian Air Force and the country.

He said the deceased officers were among the best personnel in the service, with proven professionalism, experience and commitment to duty.

The Air Chief noted that their loss was particularly painful, considering the sacrifices they made in protecting the nation.

He assured the families of the deceased that the Nigerian Air Force would provide the necessary support and ensure that the sacrifices of the fallen personnel were not forgotten.

The Nigerian Air Force aircraft crashed in a swampy area near Igbokoda, headquarters of Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, on Monday during a routine operation.

The crash claimed the lives of all 25 personnel on board.
