The Ondo State Government says it remains committed to reducing maternal mortality through sustained investment in the health sector.
The State Commissioner for Health, Banji Ajaka, stated this during the launch of the distribution of family planning equipment and training kits to selected healthcare facilities across the state.
Ese-Odo, Ifedore, and Ondo West Local Government Areas have the highest maternal mortality rates in Ondo State.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Ayodele Adiji, who represented the Commissioner for Health, said the intervention will improve the clinical skills of healthcare workers, strengthen service delivery, and boost confidence in the provision of sexual and reproductive health services across the state.
Development partners also encouraged women to embrace child birth spacing through family planning, noting that it promotes healthier mothers and babies while reducing maternal deaths.
The initiative is expected to improve the quality of reproductive healthcare services, save lives, and further reduce maternal mortality across Ondo State.
