Nigeria’s minister of science, innovation and technology, Ogbonnaya Onu, wants citizens to support the ongoing
fight against cyber crimes and all other forms of security threats ravaging every sector in the country particularly
financial sector.
The minister who said this in Abuja on Friday also urged Nigerians to support local technological innovations.
Over the years, ICT has contributed immensely to Nigeria’s development and her gross domestic product (GDP).
Cyber-attacks such as malware and ransomware have, however, continued to pose serious threats to businesses in the digital space.

The Abuja gathering is, therefore, insisting that Businesses must ensure the safety of their cyber security system in the wake of increasing cases of cyber-attacks.
Other participants appealed to Nigerians with patriotic abilities to help in promoting sanity and upscale employment rate in the country.
Organisers of the event said the initiative
was to complement government’s efforts at combating cyber-attacks which have caused setbacks in the Nigerian economy
