Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation WHIRL STROKE, have rescued two abducted victims and arrested a suspected kidnapper in separate operations in Nasarawa and Benue States.
In a statement signed by the Acting Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force, Operation WHIRL STROKE, Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu, troops of Sector Two arrested a suspected kidnapper identified as Adamu Lamu at Agyaragu in Nasarawa State.
The suspect was arrested following information provided by a victim, Nehemiah Elisha, who had escaped from his abductors.
According to the statement, Elisha later sighted one of his suspected abductors at a market in Agyaragu and immediately alerted troops deployed in the area.
The troops swiftly responded and apprehended the suspect before handing him over to the Nigeria Police for further investigation and necessary legal action.
In a separate operation on September 6, troops of COAS Intervention Battalion XI rescued a kidnapped victim, identified as Vincent Nyado, along the Umene-Torkula Road in Benue State.
The victim was found tied and abandoned by the roadside.
Preliminary information indicates that he had allegedly been abducted by suspected terrorists who, on sighting the approaching troops, fled into the surrounding bushes, abandoning their victim.
The rescued victim was subsequently secured by the troops, while efforts are ongoing to obtain further information and identify of the fleeing suspects.
Operation WHIRL STROKE says it remains committed to stemming the rising tide of violence across the North-Central region and Taraba State.
The task force has charged its troops to sustain the momentum of ongoing intelligence-led operations, remain vigilant and strengthen cooperation with relevant security agencies and local communities.
Members of the public are also encouraged to continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies, as such cooperation remains critical to combating criminal elements and creating a safer environment for all.
