Troops of the Special security Taskforce deployed to maintain peace in Plateau, Bauchi and Southern Kaduna, code named “Operation SAFE HAVEN” on Operation HAKORIN DAMISA IV said it has rescued Eleven female farmers who were kidnapped while working on their farmlands at Riruwa Village in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
A statement signed by the Media officer of the Special Force, James Oya, in Jos on Tuesday said the rescue operation was carried out in conjunction with personnel of the Nigerian Police Force and local hunters.
It disclosed that the troops also neutralized eleven suspected bandit/armed robbers and arrested 59 others in connection with kidnapping, including those it said are on security wanted list for armed robbery, cattle rustling, railway vandalism, gunrunning and illegal mining.
The statement revealed that on 10th October 2023, the troops acting on what it says was a piece of credible information, arrested an alleged notorious kidnapper, Madu Abubakar at Kwa village in Qua’anpan LGA of Plateau State, while two other suspects, Mamu Dauda and Mohammed Zakari, who have been on the wanted list of OPSH at Zango Urban in Zango Kataf LGA of Kaduna State were equally nabbed.

The Special Forces spokesperson said the troops also recovered 80 rustled sheep abandoned by fleeing suspects after sighting troops stationed at Takai village in Bokkos LGA of Plateau State,
as well as another 69 cows for grazing on farmlands at Vodni village in Mangu LGA.
The Statement adds that different types of arms and ammunition, mobile phones, two motorcycles were recovered when a truck loaded with railway materials in Manchok, suspected to have been vandalized from Kafanchan train station in Kaura LGA of Kaduna state, was intercepted by operatives.
Giving account of its operations between 9th to 16th October 2023, OPERATION SAFE HAVEN said it has secured the conviction of 5 suspects namely; Hamisu Gyang, Pam Ibrahim, Mafeng Gwott, Ibrahim Mohammed and Abdullahi Abubakar who were charged for criminal conspiracy, unlawful possession of firearms, theft and culpable homicide, had been sentenced to 6 months imprisonment each with an option of fine.
According to the Media officer, the Commander of OPSH, Major General AE Abubakar appreciates the people of Plateau, Bauchi and Southern Kaduna for their prompt dissemination of information which has largely been responsible for the successes recorded so far while assuring citizens that the OPSH would continue to go after suspected criminal elements and protect the lives and property of citizens.
