The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has visited Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde to commiserate with the state government over the kidnapping of schoolchildren and their teachers in Orire.
The PDP delegation, led by Interim National Working Committee Chairman, Taminu Turaki, described Nigeria’s security architecture as outdated and overdue for a comprehensive overhaul.
Turaki highlighted the contradiction in the current system where governors are designated as chief security officers of their states but lack direct control over security chiefs stationed within their jurisdictions. He argued that effective response to security threats required governors to have operational authority over security agencies in their states rather than relying solely on directives from Abuja.
