The Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has signed into law a 20.3 billion naira supplementary appropriation bill for the 2022 fiscal year.
This brings to a hundred and seventy-five point nine billion naira the expected expenditure for this year as the chief executive had in December last year signed into law the 2022 budget of a hundred and fifty-five point six billion naira.
He equally assented to a law establishing statistical development and other related matters.
Development decisions are largely informed by data, if estimates on health or other socio-economic outcomes are uncertain or not systematically produced it becomes difficult to generate evidence about the effectiveness of existing policies which will in turn affect development.
It is against this background that the State Governor Samuel Ortom assets to the bill to formally establish the State statistical system.

Also signed into law is the 2022 supplementary appropriation bill of 20.3 billion naira.
The supplementary budget is to cater for the increased cost of procuring goods and services as well as some critical projects that were not captured in the main budget.
