The crisis rocking the Edo State chapter of the All Progressive Congress, APC, took a different dimension weekend as thugs allegedly sponsored by the state government laid siege at the Benin airport in an attempt to prevent the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, from visiting the state.
Oshiomhole was said to have flown to Benin City to attend the burial ceremony of the mother of a former member of the House of Representatives, Johnson Agbonayinma on Saturday.

The factional Chairman and Publicity Secretary of the party in the state said it took the intervention of security agents to prevent the hoodlums form attacking Oshiomhole, but a vehicle in his entourage was destroyed due to stones and sticks thrown at the convoy.
The State Government has denied the allegation of being responsible for the attack but attributed the incident to angry youths who booed the former governor of the state for a reason best known to them.
