The Justice, Development and Peace Makers Centre ( DJPMC), a non governmental organization has described the ideological war that began after the 2022 Osun State Governorship Election between Governor Ademola Adeleke and his predecessor, Gboyega Oyetola, as the precursor of election violence in the state.
The General Coordinator ( PDPMC), Rev. Peter Akinkunmi stated this during a media chat presenting their pre-election findings conducted from May 1st to August ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
Giving a breakdown of activities tracked and violence recorded within the three month period, the group explained that disregard for due process in governance triggered the interest of non-state actors in the political process.
Akinkunmi said that with a series of research conducted across various local government areas in the state, the Justice Development and Peace Makers’ Centre has tagged the forthcoming election as the most violent since 2014.
