As the Osun Governorship Petition Tribunal continues sitting, the Chairman of the panel has asked the counsel to the Peoples Democratic Party and Ademola Adeleke to present a formal application on the disqualification of APC Candidate, Gboyega Oyetola as the candidate of the party in the July 16 governorship election.

The pre-hearing sitting continued with the legal team of the petitioners led by Lasun Sanusi (SAN) proposing the schedule of proper hearing having informed the court earlier that his response to a pre-hearing form had been filed and issues formulated for the determination of the Tribunal.

However, the lead counsel of the legal teams of Ademola Adeleke, Alex Iziyon SAN, drew the attention of the court to the Federal High Court judgement which had disqualified the APC candidate, Gboyega Oyetola as a valid candidate of the party in the July 16 governorship election.

Iziyon argued that by the pronouncement of the court, the plaintiff do not have locus standi to challenge the election since he is not recognized by the law as a valid participant of the election.

He then asked the Tribunal to strike out the petition.

In his reaction, counsel to the petitioner, Lasun Sanusi said his team will need time to review the statement of the plaintiff in order to react properly on the issues raised.

In his rulling, the Chairman of the Tribunal panel, Tertse Kume, asked the lawyer of the plaintiff to come with the formal application for the court to be able to rule on the validity of the application.

He then adjourned the sitting to 13th October with all processes expected to be assembled and answered for all preliminary motions raised before hearing fully commences.
