Saturday’s local government election held across Osun State, witnessed low turnout of voters, even as the state governor, Gboyega Oyetola, described the exercise as peaceful and transparent .

AIT observed that voters in majority of the polling units refused to turnout to exercise their franchise for fear of being harassed.

The local government election in osun state has continued to generate controversy, even before the eventual conduct of the exercise in the state .

Saturday’s exercise had only the All Progressives Congress fielding candidates for the polls which was conducted with ballot papers marked “Yes or No

At some of the polling units in Osogbo councils, Osogbo West LCDA among others, elections did not start until about 11am .

After casting his vote, the state governor, Gboyega Oyetola described the exercise as peaceful and successful

Reacting to the election the caretaker Chairman of the PDP, Akindele Adekunle said the election is a mere waste of public funds.

Meanwhile the PDP in osun state has described the exercise as null and void, noting that the conduct of the local government election is still a subject of litigation.

The PDP insists that the outcome would be discarded as soon as the party takes over the mantle of power in November 27.
