Police in Osun State have launched a manhunt for suspects linked to the killing of a 60-year-old man, Tajudeen Yusuf, in Osogbo.
Police say the incident occurred in the Ita-Olokan area on Wednesday, shortly after Governor Ademola Adeleke and music star Davido visited the Ataoja of Osogbo at his palace.
Police say preliminary investigations indicate that trouble began shortly after the governor and his entourage left the palace.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, a man identified as Adebayo Taoreed, popularly known as “Small Rugged”, allegedly attempted to gain access to Davido but was stopped by members of the singer’s security team.
Police describe Taoreed as an ex-convict and suspected cultist and thug.
The confrontation later resulted in the palace entrance being temporarily blocked.
Police say the violence subsequently spread to the Ita-Olokan area of Osogbo, where 60-year-old Tajudeen Yusuf was killed.
Investigations are continuing, with police searching for those suspected of involvement in the killing.
