Over 3,000 teachers threaten to breakaway from NUT

About 3,300 Secondary School Teachers in Niger have indicated their interest to withdraw their membership from Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT).

The teachers are drawn from over 140 schools across the three Senatorial districts of the state.

The teachers have presented their names formally to the State Ministry of Education.

The number consist of a first batch of more than seven hundred teachers, while the second batch has two thousand and eighty six names.

The Nigeria Union of Teachers, Niger State Chapter is worried about the development and looking for ways to resolve the issue amicably even as the aggrieved teachers said there was “no going back”.
