Oyo State Government has unveiled its Education Strategic Plan 2026-2030, a comprehensive roadmap aimed at transforming the state’s education sector from aspiration to implementation.

The plan, anchored on inclusiveness, resilience, and sustainability, was launched in Ibadan at a stakeholders’ engagement that brought together government officials, development partners, and civil society actors.

Speaking at the launch, the Commissioner for Education, Segun Olayiwola, represented described the document as a strategic framework designed to address systemic challenges, improve teacher proficiency, and create ideal and resilient school facilities across the state.

Development partners including UNESCO and the Malala Fund commended the state for its gender-responsive approach and for ensuring that persons with disabilities are captured in the plan, noting that its success would depend on deliberate implementation and not just remaining on paper.

Other stakeholders, including the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, SUBEB, and the Chairman of TESCOM, reaffirmed commitment to collaborative funding, accountability mechanisms, and removal of all barriers limiting access to quality education.

The government said the plan will serve as a working document with clear tracking, risk management, and psycho-social support systems to ensure that every child in Oyo State has equal opportunity to learn, thrive, and lead.
