Operatives of the Oyo State Police Command attached to Safer Highway Patrol have arrested a suspected armed robber and recovered a locally made pistol with live cartridge.
The arrest was made during an intelligence-led stop-and-search on September 25, 2026, at about 5:30pm along Ibadan-Ife Road by Ajia Junction.
A white Mazda bus travelling from Ibadan to Ondo State and driven by one Sanusi Afeez Adedamola was intercepted. A search led to the arrest of a passenger, Emmanuel Kingsley Odoh, for unlawful possession of the firearm.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, has ordered the case transferred to the Violent Crime Response Unit for further investigation and prosecution.
The Command reassures residents of its commitment to safety and urges the public to provide timely information.
