Governors under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have called on members and supporters of the party not to allow anti-democratic forces to derail the party’s National Convention slated for November 15 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The governors urged them to see the PDP as the only democratic institution and viable alternative for restoring Nigeria on the path of National development.

Chairman of PDP Governors Forum, who is the Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, made the call while reading out to journalists resolutions of the forum in a communique at the end of their meeting in Gusau, the Zamfara State Capital.

Those who attended the meeting were Governors of Adamawa, Bauchi, Taraba, Bayelsa, Osun, Oyo and Zamfara States while the governors of Enugu and Plateau States were absent.

The forum reaffirmed its full commitment to the resolutions of the 103rd National Executive Committee meeting of July 25 regarding the November 15 National Convention.

The forum reaffirmed its commitment to rescue Nigeria from the harsh policies of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which it said has continued to create untold hardship for Nigerians.

National Acting Chairman of the PDP, Umar Damagum, condemned the militarisation of the recently concluded bye-election in the country and urged members to come together to put the party in order.

The host Governor, Dauda Lawal, observed that military personnel were used to rig the election but failed to use them to protect helpless citizens against the bandits who are attacking and killing law-abiding people.

The PDP Governors commended the Zamfara Governor Dauda Lawal for his efforts at tackling banditry in the state and restoring relative peace, even as they called on the Federal Government to intensify the fight against insecurity in the country
