A member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Abdulmumin Jibrin, from Kano State, who campaigned and sponsored the nomination of Femi Gbajabiamila as Speaker of the House of Representatives in the 9th National Assembly, has lost his bid to return to the green chambers.
Jibrin, whose election was nullified by the Appeal Court, lost Saturday’s rerun election in Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency to Datti Yako of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who polled a total of 48,641 votes. Jibrin on the other hand scored 13,507 votes.
Despite his support for Gbajabiamila and his ranking while in the House, Jibrin reportedly did not get the chairmanship of any choice committee when the Speaker announced the membership of the over 100 standing committees.
