The national leadership of People’s Democratic Party, PDP has vowed to reclaim governance at the centre and also produce more state governors In 2027 general elections.
The party’s National Working Committee NWC stated this at the weekend during a visit to Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri at his country home, Sampou in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area.
The party officials were there as part of their visit to PDP governors across the country, aimed at repositioning and uniting the party ahead of 2027 general elections.
Members of the NWC believe the PDP has a better chance to wrest power from the ruling All Progressives Congress in the next elections due to the lingering economic hardship across the country.
The delegation assured the NWC is poised to reposition the party and urged the governors to close ranks towards actualising their vision.
Responding, Governor Diri said it it is essential for the party and its governors to be united and expressed support for the idea of forming a mega party with the PDP standing out prominently.
The NWC members commiserated with Governor Diri over the death of retired Deputy Inspector General of Police Moses Jituboh and the State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Elizabeth Bidei.
