The former Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi the Second, has charged Muslims to foster peaceful coexistence with people of other faith, as exemplified by the teachings of the Prophet.
He gave the charge during the 36th International Maulud Celebration of Sheikh Ibrahim Inyass in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, where he called on Muslims to pray for the country, to overcome its myriad of challenges.
The 2022 annual observance of Sheikh Ibrahim Inyass International Maulud Day, attracted prominent Islamic scholars, politicians, captains of industry and Muslims from all walks of life, who converged on Gusau, the Zamfara State capital to mark the day.
Amongst the prominent Islamic scholars was the former Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi the Second, who was crowned the Grand Patron and Leader of the Tijjaniya sect, a position his grandfather Muhammadu Sanusi the First held in the 1980s.

Emir Sanusi the Second, said for millions of Muslims to gather in Zamfara State, to commemorate the International Maulud Day, in a state bedevilled by banditry and terrorism, is a positive sign that peace is being restored in the state in particular, and the country at large.
He believes that, if Nigerians engaged in fervent prayers, fostering unity, tolerance and peaceful co-existence among themselves, irrespective of religious affiliations, could help the country surmount its current challenges of insecurity and economic hardship.
Governor Bello Mohammed of Zamfara State, emphasized the need for Muslims to uphold peace and unity, as instructed by the Holy Book and the teachings of the prophet.
Governor Mohammed observed that the Tijjaniyya sect, as a strong unifying platform, for the multitude of followership, which comes in thousands into Zamfara State for the observance of Maulud Day, is one of the fine testimonies that peace is returning to the state.
He, however, called on the followers of the Tijjaniya sect to emulate the good characters of Sheikh Ibrahim Inyass, which he maintained throughout his lifetime.
One of the prominent figures and the Chief Guest at the 36th International Maulud Day celebration of Shiekh Ibrahim Inyass, Kaliph Mahi Ibrahim Inyas, said the theme of this year’s Maulud is “Pray for our country and peace for Zamfara and the entire Northern region,” which he described as apt and timely, considering the challenges the state, Northern region and the country are facing.
