The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, (PENGASSAN) on Thursday staged massive protests in Abuja, Port Harcourt, Warri and Kaduna threatening to embark on strike if urgent steps are not taken to end oil theft in Nigeria.
In Abuja, the oil workers stormed the headquarters of the Nigeria Police and the NNPC Limited where they delivered copies of their petition to the appropriate authorities.
PENGASSAN however threatened to down tools if nothing is done to stop the criminality which has cause loss of jobs for a good number of its members.

PENGASSAN called for the prosecution and arrest of security agencies indicted in the criminality.
Nigeria is said to be losing nearly half of its crude oil production to the activities of oil thieves; making it difficult for the country to meet its daily OPEC quota of 1.8 million barrels per day.
The massive theft of oil has negatively impacted on the country’s revenue generation capacity.
