Pension Settlement: Court orders Kaduna Govt. to pay Retired. Perm Secs, HoS over N984m

The Presiding judge of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria in Kaduna State, Justice Sinmisola Adeniyi, has ordered the Kaduna State Government to pay the sum of over 984 million Naira to 71 retired Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Service in the state.

Justice Adeniyi issued a Garnishee Order on four accounts of the Kaduna State Government, including Guaranty Trust Bank, Unity Bank PLC, Zenith Bank PLC, and Access Bank PLC, following an Ex-parte Application, filed on 11th of October, 2022, by the appellant counsel, Samuel Atung, SAN.

She further explained that the order by the court is on the grounds of the Pension Right, which is also enshrined in Section 210 of the 1999 Constitution, as amended.

The court has declared that the Kaduna State Government shall within 30 days, pay the retired Permanent Secretaries and Heads Of Service, the balance or difference of their monthly pension, from the unlawful deductions.
