The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Party, Peter Obi, says he will no longer respond to attacks, insinuations, or provocations from political surrogates ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement issued by his media office, Obi noted that the presidential contest should be between candidates whose names will appear on the ballot and not between candidates and individuals speaking on their behalf.
The statement, signed by the spokesperson of the Peter Obi Media Office, Idris Zekeri Jnr, said Obi is prepared to defend his record, explain his policies and engage directly with Nigerians and other presidential contenders on issues affecting the country.

The media office challenged presidential candidates who rely on surrogates to step forward and speak for themselves, defend their records, explain their policies, and address the concerns of Nigerians.
It described the use of political surrogates as a convenient way for candidates to make reckless accusations and distort facts.
