A Petrol tanker laden with petroleum product has fallen in Lokoja, Kogi State spilling its contents and causing destruction of residential homes and shops after going into flames.
According to an eye witness who preferred to remain anonymous, a petrol tanker carrying fuel lost control and skidded off the road around Ganaja village roundabout on entering into Lokoja from the eastern part of the state while driving towards Lokoja city centre
Residents were said to have taken advantage to scoop fuel from the fallen tanker. Fire erupted when a man reportedly lit a cigarette nearby, causing the fire outbreak.

As at the time of this report, no human casualty was recorded, except for burnt shops and houses.
Efforts are currently ongoing to put off the inferno as men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps alongside other sister security agencies are on ground to control the situation
