Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has rallied security chiefs to intensify intelligence-led operations and prevent further attacks, following recent security incidents in parts of the state.

Mutfwang convened the State Security Council at the New Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos, where security chiefs reviewed emerging threats, recent attacks and measures to strengthen the protection of lives, property and communities.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Governor, heads of security and law enforcement agencies, the Gbong Gwom Jos, Da. Jacob Gyang Buba, and other senior government officials.

The council focused on intelligence gathering and sharing, preventive operations and stronger coordination among security agencies.

Speaking after the meeting, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ayodeji Faniyan, said Governor Mutfwang regularly reviews the state’s security situation to identify operational gaps and improve responses to emerging threats.

Faniyan described the recent attack in Mangu as unfortunate, saying it underscored the need for stronger intelligence and preventive operations.

He disclosed that arrests had been made in connection with some recent attacks, while investigations continue to identify other suspects and establish their roles.

The commissioner said security agencies were working with national authorities and deploying technology to analyse intelligence and support ongoing investigations.

He urged residents to provide timely and credible information on suspicious activities and movements, stressing that community cooperation is critical to preventing attacks.

Faniyan also called for heightened vigilance as the ember months approach and political activities increase ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The meeting is part of the Mutfwang administration’s efforts to consolidate peace and security and create a safer environment for residents, investment, tourism, agriculture and commerce across Plateau State.
