Governor Caleb Mutfwang has declared that Plateau State in North-Central Nigeria will not bow to “violence and criminality” following a string of deadly attacks in Barkin Ladi and Bassa LGAs.

During an emotional visit to the affected communities, the Governor mourned the lives lost and vowed to track down both the assailants and their sponsors.

The past week has seen a terrifying spike in violence across Plateau state. In Nding, Barkin Ladi, where seven people were recently killed, Governor Mutfwang met with grieving families to promise a total overhaul of local security.

This was followed by a stakeholders’ town hall, where the Governor issued a stern warning to those fueling the unrest.

The Governor was joined in Bassa by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, who distributed relief materials to the displaced persons. The Minister specifically praised the swift intervention of mobile police units for preventing further bloodshed in Nbrazango.

As the farming season kicks off, the Governor assured rural residents that protecting their lives and livelihoods remains the administration’s top priority.
