Plateau State Government has declared a state of war against terrorists.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang said this is aimed at putting a decisive end to banditry and violent attacks.
The declaration followed an expanded State Security Council meeting in Jos attended by heads of security agencies, local chairmen, and traditional rulers attended the briefing.
The emergency meeting comes after Governor Mutfwang personally visited communities recently attacked by terrorists in Barkin Ladi and Bassa LGAs left multiple residents dead.
Council members reviewed intelligence reports to pin down the drivers of the violence and map out immediate interventions.
One of the immediate steps is the restriction on specific regional activities.
Security forces are now targeting ungoverned remote spaces across the state. Officials say these areas serve as operational bases for criminal elements.
Surveillance and joint tactical operations are also being intensified to reclaim these zones.
The government has warned residents against blocking roads or staging reprisal attacks and violators of this order are to face immediate prosecution
