Fifty-nine suspects and ninety-four commercial sex workers have been arrested by the police in Delta state.
The suspects were nabbed by operatives who embarked on an intensive patrol, stop and search, and show of force, while acting on credible intelligence report.
The special security operation which lasted for a week, saw the police raiding some identified criminal hideouts along the east-west road and other black spots in Ughelli north local government area.
Exhibits recovered from the suspects include, three pump action guns, one locally made gun, one dagger, ten live cartridges, one suspected stolen unregistered Toyota Venza and one unregistered Mercedes Benz.
Other items include small quantities of various suspected illicit drugs.
The police command in a statement issued and signed by its spokesperson DSP Bright Edafe disclosed that the ninety-four commercial sex workers have been charged to court alongside some of the male suspects, while others have been transferred to the command headquarters for further investigations.
